Country details

Jordan is best known for citizenship by investment through economic contribution programs administered by the Development and Free Zones Commission. The program requires significant investment: USD 1.5M in Treasury bonds (held for 6 years), USD 1.0M in active investment creating 20+ jobs, or USD 1.5M in real estate.

Processing typically takes 3-6 months. Jordanian citizenship grants visa-free access to approximately 50 countries.

The program is particularly attractive for business expansion in the Levant region and access to Jordan's free trade agreements with the US, EU, and Arab nations. Jordan maintains a constitutional monarchy with a relatively liberal social environment compared to neighboring countries.

Jordan's tax system includes progressive personal income tax rates from 5% to 30% on income over JOD 500K annually. Corporate tax ranges from 14-35% depending on sector (20% for most businesses, 35% for banks and telecoms).

Capital gains from real estate are taxed, while gains from securities are generally exempt. There is no inheritance tax.

VAT (general sales tax) is 16%. Jordan offers tax incentives in free zones and development areas.

The country's educated workforce, strategic location as a gateway between the Middle East and Mediterranean, and political stability make it a regional business hub despite limited natural resources.
