Detalhes do país
Georgia is a fast-moving Eurasian jurisdiction that has become popular with entrepreneurs and location-flexible professionals, largely because residence permissions are relatively accessible and the personal tax system can behave like territorial taxation.
For individuals, the headline income tax rate is a flat 20%, and PwC notes that resident individuals are exempt from tax on income that does not have a Georgian source. Capital gains are generally taxed at 20% (with some transactions taxed at 5%), and dividends are commonly subject to 5% tax when sourced to Georgia. Georgia does not levy a classic net wealth tax or a standalone inheritance tax, but the tax code can treat certain gifts and inheritances as taxable income depending on relationship and thresholds.
On the immigration side, Georgia offers multiple temporary residence permit categories (work, study, family reunification, and others). For investors, the law provides an investment residence permit for USD 300K equivalent in GEL (business investment or qualifying real estate), and a separate short-term residence permit linked to ownership of immovable property valued over USD 100K equivalent in GEL (with the threshold scheduled to rise to USD 150K from 1 March 2026).
The key practical caveat is sourcing: foreign income is only exempt if it is not treated as Georgian-source under the tax rules. For example, services physically performed in Georgia can be Georgian-source even if the payer is abroad. Treat the 0% foreign income headline as conditional on correct sourcing and treaty position, not as an automatic free pass.
